Private Pix™ - FAQ

Q: Why don't MOV files work in Private Pix?
A: MOV files are in Quicktime format. Since there is no public codec
available there is no support at this time for these files. There are converters
for these files but this is beyond the scope of this FAQ.
Q: What do I do if my image looks fuzzy?
A: If your image or movie looks distorted, go to the settings tab and look under
"Viewer Settings". Make sure that "Enlarge Picture to Fit" and "Enlarge Movie to
Fit" are set to "No". The image also might not have been taken with very high
quality, so opening the image in another viewer could be helpful to make sure it
is not the image itself.
Q: Does Private Pix support thumbnails?
A: Yes, the new version of Private Pix supports thumbnails. Please see the
program help for more information.
Q: What should I do if I experience strange problems playing movies in Private Pix?
A: The new version of Private Pix has built-in integration with Windows Media Player. If movies don't play
well, then you may be experiencing problems with Windows Media Player. You can try upgrading your Windows
Media Player, or you can disable WMP support by going to the settings tab and looking under the
"Viewer Settings" section. To disable WMP support, set "Use Embedded Windows Media Player" to "No".
Q: Does Private Pix play and encrypt avi, mpg, and other
media
files?
A: Yes, the new version of Private Pix has support for movies and MP3 audio files. For a
full list of supported files, see the bottom of this page. It also allows
files to be encrypted, even when they are large.
Q: How well does Private Pix protect my data?
A: Private Pix offers the ability to lock the entire program, have a user
definable key and password, scramble the file names of your picture, and offers
a Strong Encryption package that will prevent hackers or anyone else from
gaining access to your data. You can even hide entire folders so that no programs
except Private Pix can see the hidden folders! Private Pix is the best solution for those that want a
stable and fast yet easy to use interface.
Q: How long is the demo version of Private Pix good for?
A: Private Pix demo expires after 30 days. After that, you must buy the program to continue using it.
Q: How do I get full control and protection out of Private
Pix?
A: By registering Private Pix you get the ability to use every encryption type available in the
Strong Encryption Package. Once you register, the
advertisement banners will also go away. The registered version provides increased security and more
powerful encryption options.
Q: How do I uninstall Private Pix?
A: Either from the Help menu under Uninstall or from the Uninstall button
on the Register/Program Expired Screen.
Q: What is a file key and how does the file scrambling work?
A: Private Pix has a file key that is used in the encryption of the
contents of the file. The file name scrambling uses a different key and method
for scrambling the name. This is so Private Pix can generate the list of files
quickly so if a large number of encrypted files are present, it makes displaying
the whole list a lot faster. Please read the program help for more information.
Q: What makes Private Pix so unique?
A: Private Pix offers the ability to keep your pictures and movies organized and secure and
allows for easy viewing of them at the same time! Private Pix has a quick exit
key as well, just push ESC and Private Pix is gone! Private Pix also has a built
in slide show and is backward compatible with Private Encryptor. Private Pix
includes a number of security features that offer you protection from prying
eyes.
Q: What if I get a runtime error with Private Pix?
A: The Windows operating system is a very complex work of engineering, and sometimes things just go wrong
for no particular reason. This happens to all programs from time to time. If Private Pix crashes or gives
you a strange error message, then try closing the program and re-starting it. If the problem won't go away,
then go to the form http://www.tropsoft.com/techsprt.htm
and fill out a tech support request.
Q: What file formats does Private Pix support?
A: Private Pix supports MPG, MPE, AVI, WMV, ASF, WM, WAV, WMA, MP3, GIF, JPG, BMP, PCX, PSD, PGM, PPM, PNG, TGA, TIF, PCT, and JIF file formats.
